Welcome to the NEW KTFC in Your School Newsletter

September 2009

Kettering Town Football Club will be releasing three newsletters a season to every child in each school in the local area. It will be a great way for you to find out what we have in store for this season. There will be many events and activities that you will want to be a part of as a student, a footballer and as a fan in the community. If you want to have your say, write us an article and the best one will be selected for the next newsletter!

FUN DAY
If you are between 4 and 15 years old come along to the FREE Juniors Day to be held on Thursday 8th April in the Tin Hat Social Club from 11:00am to 3:00pm.
 
There will be all sorts of things to do; flag painting, and easter egg hunt, training, meet the poppies players, tour of the dressing rooms and behind the scenes, and much more. A free draw to be CHAMP THE LION for the final Saturday game of the season against Eastbourne Borough on 17th April, (only for children attending the fun day), plus many other exciting activities throughout the day.
 
Please bring a packed lunch and drinks.
 
This day is available to both members and non members.
KETTERING TOWN LADIES & GIRLS
Kettering Town Ladies & Girls Football Club was formed in 1998 and in 2005 achieved the FA Charter Standard Development Award. The Ladies and Girls section currently run seven junior teams between the ages of 9-16 yrs playing in the MDH Girls League and two Ladies teams, playing in the Eastern Region Women's League and the Northants County League. Over the last three seasons the Club has seen 9 League Champions, 2 County Cup Champions and 2 League Cup Champions. The Under 13's team also has a prestigious sponsor in the form of The Poppies Trust.
 
Women's and girls' football continues to grow with more players competing in affiliated competition than any other team sport. There has been an increase in the number of players, clubs, leagues and competitions since 1993; the number of players has increased from 10,400 to over 150,000 today. Sport England's Active People survey in 2008 highlighted that 260,000 women and 1.1 million girls play some form of football in England. There are 26 million females playing across the world, of which 4.1 million are playing affiliated football - this is a 54% growth since the year 2000.
