18-year-old goalkeeper Niall Cooper put pen to paper today and became the latest member of the Poppies 2009-10 squad. Cooper, who turned out last season for Sileby Rangers in the UCL, has already taken part in both pre-season training sessions with the rest of the lads.
This Friday the 3rd of July 2009 sees the Quiz Night return to the Tin Hat and is expected to Start at 8.30pm. Teams are advised to arrive by 8.00pm and it will cost £1.00 per player with teams to a maximum of 5 players. The Tin Hat will be open from 5.00pm on Friday, with our Guest Ales being Phipp's Red Star & Elgood's Double Swan both at £2.20 per PINT and £1.10 for a HALF PINT....

With all the activity at the Elgood's Brewery Arena over the past couple of months, it's hard to believe that the first pre-season fixture is only just over two weeks away. With home games lined up against Peterborough, Reading and Chesterfield, who are all likely to bring strong sides, manager Mark Cooper will be able to take a good look at his resources.

Former Poppies front man Rene Howe returns to Kettering in Peterborough colours on Wednesday 15 July, when the Posh will be the visitors for a pre-season friendly.
For the next two years the Poppies home ground in Rockingham Road will officially be known as the Elgood's Brewery Arena.
The Tinhat Social Club is open today (Saturday) at the ground if anyone wants to drop in for a drink whilst watching Grand Prix qualifying or the Lions destroy the South Africans. And we'll be open again on Sunday from midday, for as many of the the afternoon's sporting events as it's possible to cram in....
Many thanks to everyone who has given up their time this week to ensure the Tinhat social club was open in time for Friday night's charity race night.
The Poppies will be visiting The Walks on Tuesday 14th July (kick off 7.45) to play a pre-season friendly with King's Lynn....
The refurbishment of the Tinhat social club continues apace at the ground - if there are any willing volunteers out there who can spare an hour or two to help with the work between now and Friday evening, you're more than welcome to come along and lend a hand (just bring some overalls or old clothes to wear!)...

Young Cobblers centre-half Greg Taylor today became the latest player to commit himself to Poppies colours next season. A member of the Northampton Town youth set-up, Greg made one first-team appearance last season, coming on as a late substitute in the county town’s 2-1 victory at Bolton Wanderers in the Carling Cup....
The club is pleased to announce that midfielder Lee Fowler has today signed for the club. Lee has travelled around in his 26 years. Amongst others, the Cardiff born player, has been with Coventry, Cardiff, Burton Albion and most recently Forest Green Rovers. He is though best remembered for scoring Huddersfield's winning penalty in the shootout against Mansfield Town in the Division 3 Play-Off Final on 31 May 2004 at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
