18-year-old goalkeeper Niall Cooper put pen to paper today and became the latest member of the Poppies 2009-10 squad. Cooper, who turned out last season for Sileby Rangers in the UCL, has already taken part in both pre-season training sessions with the rest of the lads.

By this time tomorrow the Blue Square Premier fixtures will be out, and all the players will know who they'll be up against when the league campaign kicks off on 8 August....

This Friday the 3rd of July 2009 sees the Quiz Night return to the Tin Hat and is expected to Start at 8.30pm. Teams are advised to arrive by 8.00pm and it will cost £1.00 per player with teams to a maximum of 5 players. The Tin Hat will be open from 5.00pm on Friday, with our Guest Ales being Phipp's Red Star & Elgood's Double Swan both at £2.20 per PINT and £1.10 for a HALF PINT....

The players returned to the newly-named Elgood's Brewery Arena today after a well-earned summer break.

After a short gathering for introductions in the centre circle, the squad moved on to Tresham College where training commenced under a baking hot sun.

Another arrival at the ground today was some 200+ seats that will be used to replace some very old ones and slightly increase the overall capacity.

Former Poppies front man Rene Howe returns to Kettering in Peterborough colours on Wednesday 15 July, when the Posh will be the visitors for a pre-season friendly.

Unfortunately this means the game at King's Lynn will not now be taking place on the 14th.

The new opening hours for the Tin Hat Social Club with immediate effect are as follows:

For the next two years the Poppies home ground in Rockingham Road will officially be known as the Elgood's Brewery Arena.

The Tinhat Social Club is open today (Saturday) at the ground if anyone wants to drop in for a drink whilst watching Grand Prix qualifying or the Lions destroy the South Africans. And we'll be open again on Sunday from midday, for as many of the the afternoon's sporting events as it's possible to cram in....
